Description
What type of wine is it?
Quiñon de Valmira by Palacios Remondo is a red wine from Rioja made from a blend based on Grenache and local varieties. It offers an elegant profile that balances freshness and tannic texture. Fermentation in oak vats with native yeasts gives this Grenache-based blend a distinct identity.
Where does it come from?
The grapes come from Rioja Baja, north of Alfaro, at the foot of Mount Yerga. The plots benefit from excellent southeast exposure at an altitude of 550 meters. The altitude and microclimate combine fruit ripeness with tasting tension, enhanced by a distinct mineral note typical of the Rioja terroir.
How is it produced?
The cellar process employs oak vats and indigenous yeasts. With regular punch-downs and a 38-day maceration, optimal extraction is achieved. Malolactic fermentation occurs spontaneously, followed by 12 months of aging in vats to increase complexity without overpowering varietal traits.
Tasting notes
Visually, it appears clear and intense. The bouquet expresses ripe red fruit, sweet spices, and mineral hints. On the palate, it is elegant and profound, with balanced acidity and soft tannins supporting the sip. The persistent finish combines fruit juiciness with elegant spicy sensations.
Food pairing
Its balanced smoothness pairs particularly well with red meat dishes, game, and aged cheeses.
When to serve it?
Ideal for lunches and dinners where a long flavor progression is desired. Its inherent finesse and aromatic component enhance elaborate and intense menus. It is an excellent choice for special occasions or dedicated tasting moments, where its persistent evolution on the palate has time to be appreciated.
