Description
What type of wine is it
The Chardonnay 875m Finca Carbonera by El Coto de Rioja is a structured and complex still white wine, made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes. It stands out for its precise balance between freshness and smoothness, coming from barrique fermentation. This process gives the palate a creamy texture and maintains the focus on fruity notes, harmoniously integrated with the warm, spicy hints from the wood, resulting in a clean and balanced finish.
Where does it come from
The grapes are grown on the Finca Carbonera estate in the Rioja region, at eight hundred and seventy-five meters above sea level. This altitude allows for a gradual ripening that ensures precise aromatic definition. The glacial soil, characterized by abundant surface stones, favors the health of the grapes and the proper development of the vines, offering clear precision where freshness balances the overall structure.
How is it made
At the winery, destemming and a cold maceration are performed, followed by careful pressing to prevent must oxidation. Alcoholic fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature in new barriques made of French oak treated with steam. Afterwards, the wine undergoes periodic batonnage that enriches its profile, increasing creaminess and extending the natural tendency for longevity in the final product.
Tasting notes
In the glass, it shows a very bright straw-yellow color. The nose recalls fruity and floral aromas typical of Chardonnay, and evolves with remarkable breadth. Clear notes of tropical fruit, including pineapple, emerge, accompanied by a delicate vanilla scent from the wood. On the palate, the taste is fresh, followed by enveloping smoothness and an orderly persistence that ensures a long and consistent finish.
Food pairings
The aromatic intensity of this label makes it the ideal choice to accompany fish dishes with well-defined flavors. It is an harmonious complement for hearty recipes such as seafood soup, fried foods, or dishes based on blue fish. The velvety texture and subtle vanilla tones soften the typical savoriness of shellfish and blend seamlessly with the food, allowing the flavors to remain expressive on the palate.
When to serve it
This is a suitable solution for a structured meal requiring a white wine that combines flavorful fullness with elegance. The targeted process and tailored aging provide excellent evolution capacity, allowing a rewarding tasting even after proper bottle aging. It expresses its potential both in the first few years, to capture the immediacy of the fruit, and in the medium term, to appreciate greater complexity and aromatic integration.
