Description
Faustino Icon Edition Gran Reserva is an elegant and structured wine produced in Rioja, made from a blend of Tempranillo and Graciano grapes grown in selected plots. The vines, aged between 35 and 65 years, have roots in soils rich in limestone and stones, ideal for retaining heat and promoting optimal grape ripening.
The harvest is manual and takes place in crates to preserve the integrity of the grapes, followed by a double selection in the cellar. Fermentation takes place in small capacity vats at controlled temperatures with gentle punch-downs and pump-overs to ensure a natural extraction of aromas and polyphenols. Malolactic fermentation occurs spontaneously in the same vessel. The wine is then aged for 24 months in new French and American oak barrels, followed by further maturation in the bottle.
Visually, it presents a bright, intense cherry-red color. On the nose, it reveals an aromatic complexity that combines ripe berries, spicy notes, and well-dosed hints of wood. The palate is elegant and rich, with smooth and well-integrated tannins that provide structure and harmony, while the gustatory persistence is long and enveloping, confirming the finesse and depth of this wine.
It pairs perfectly with grilled red meats, substantial roasts, or medium-aged cheeses.
