Romagna Albana DOCG Passito Scacco Matto 2018 Zerbina
Description
Scaccomatto is an icon of Albana passita, produced in the land of Romagna where the hills of Faenza look to Tuscany.
It recalls the complex imprint of the famous French Sauternes, as also for this sweet wine, withering in the plant and the attack of the Muffa Nobile is foreseen. The grapes, 100% Albana variety, are then harvested scalarly based on the degree of drying and botritization achieved. Once collected, they ferment in steel. Here they stop for some time and are then moved to barriques, where the wine ages for 3 months. A final period of 12 months in the bottle completes the maturation process.
It is bright and dense golden yellow in color. The perfume gives a complexity of orange blossom, daffodils, chamomile flowers, honey, candied citrus fruits and a trace of iodine. In the mouth it is sweet, soft, enveloping but carried along the whole sip by a fresh, thin and firm vein. It closes in a texture of dried and dehydrated fruit.
To be combined with highly aged cheeses or with dry pasta.
