Description

What kind of wine is it

Rosso di Montalcino by Tenute Silvio Nardi is a red wine produced exclusively from Sangiovese grapes grown on the hills of Montalcino, in Tuscany. It stands out for its structured and full style, supported by a velvety tannic texture and pleasant persistence. The meticulous winemaking process ensures a warm and smooth profile. The production involves a pre-fermentation maceration, followed by fermentation at a controlled temperature and careful maturation in wood, completed by a period of bottle aging for a consistent and well-balanced result.

Where does it come from

The grapes come from vineyards located in Montalcino, nestled among the picturesque valleys of Orcia, Asso, and Ombrone. This unique hillside setting defines the production area and reflects the region's historic winemaking vocation. Its geographical position guarantees an ideal environment for Sangiovese ripening and provides a direct and recognizable identity. The influence of these three valleys precisely identifies the origin of the grapes, enriching the structural profile closely linked to the Montalcino territory.

How it is produced

The Sangiovese grapes are hand-harvested in the second half of September. In the cellar, after a brief pre-fermentation maceration, the must undergoes a fifteen-day fermentation kept at a controlled temperature of 30°C to ensure optimal extraction. At the end of vinification, the wine matures for a long period in wooden barrels for twelve months. The cycle ends with further bottle aging, ensuring the ideal technical expression before release.

Tasting notes

In the glass, this wine displays a clear and intense ruby-red color. The nose opens with a bold and direct bouquet, where aromas of ripe red fruits are complemented by distinct spicy notes. On the palate, it reveals warmth, full body, and remarkable softness, underpinned by a solid and well-defined structure. Velvety tannins accompany the sip towards a lingering finish, characterized by a good persistence that echoes the fruity sensations perceived on the nose.

Pairings

The softness and solid structure of this red pair perfectly with rich pasta dishes seasoned with meat ragù, ideally complementing slow-cooked and succulent recipes. It pairs superbly with flavorful game dishes, bolstered by the wine's velvety tannins. In addition, it enhances the texture and savoriness of aged cheeses, creating a flavor balance in which the wine's persistence highlights the meal's intensity.

When to serve

Perfect for lunches and dinners dedicated to conviviality, it offers a rewarding and continuous drink. Thanks to its structured profile and maturation in wood and glass, it is ready to be enjoyed with a well-defined identity. This Rosso di Montalcino delivers a stable and reassuring flavor presence, ensuring a pleasant, lingering finish that elegantly accompanies the entire meal, especially in the presence of intensely flavored dishes.
