Description
What kind of wine is it?
Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato Laccento by Montalbera is a red wine made from Ruchè grapes, selected from the estate's vineyards. It stands as the flagship label of the Bricco Montalbera Selection, offering a warm and elegant profile with intense and persistent aromas. The winemaking process, which combines partial drying of the grapes and over-ripening, aims for a rich yet defined character capable of maintaining a nimble sip.
Where does it come from?
It comes from Castagnole Monferrato, from the Montalbera vineyards located on the Montalbera hill. The parcels are chosen for their optimal sun exposure, a key factor that promotes full ripeness and a pronounced expression of the grape variety. Being grown in the best plots of the estate and using only the most mature berries ties Laccento to a rigorous interpretation of the terroir and its Ruchè.
How is it produced?
The Ruchè grapes are harvested by selecting the ripest clusters and berries. A portion undergoes partial drying, while the rest remains on the vine for over-ripening to increase the aromatics. Fermentation takes place with prolonged maceration on the skins, and the wine then ages in the bottle for several months before release.
Tasting notes
In the glass, it shows a ruby red color, with a natural tendency to evolve toward garnet shades with bottle aging. The nose is intense and persistent, with hints of rose petals and wild berry preserves. On the palate, it is warm and enveloping, with an elegant step and an effortless flow that enhances its concentration.
Pairings
At the table, it pairs well with mushroom risotto, especially in richer versions. It is also recommended with braised red meats, where its warmth supports succulence and long cooking times. It harmonizes with flavorful, medium-aged cheeses thanks to its aromatic persistence and structure.
When to serve
This red wine is perfect when an intense yet smooth profile is desired, suited for convivial lunches and dinners with boldly flavored dishes. It can also be enjoyed young for its aromatic richness and shows an ability to evolve over time, as suggested by its color shift toward garnet with aging in the bottle. It shines during main meals, where persistence and warmth continue through to the end of the service.
