Description
This Salento Primitivo from Masseria Ficarigna is an example of the qualitative excellence produced in the Salento region, of which the winery is an ambassador. The name Ficarigna is indeed the Salento translation of the prickly pear fruit which symbolizes Salento in the collective imagination.
After the manual harvest of grapes collected at full ripeness, fermentation proceeds at controlled temperatures. The wine is aged for 12 months in barriques before being bottled.
In the glass, it has a deep ruby red color with violet nuances. On the nose, it recalls toasted sensations and coffee that serve as a backdrop to notes of red berries. On the palate, it demonstrates warmth and a round, enveloping, and balanced taste.
It is recommended with game and aged cheeses. Try it paired with chestnuts.
