Description
What type of wine it is
Salina Rosso di Hauner is a red wine from the island of Salina, made from Nero d’Avola and Nerello Mascalese grapes. Its style stands out for its medium body and fresh profile, with fruity notes that make it a pleasant and approachable tasting experience. Stainless steel vinification at controlled temperatures preserves aromatic liveliness, while maturation in neutral vessels offers a balance between softness and freshness, making it suitable for many occasions.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from vineyards located on the island of Salina. The Mediterranean climate, with hot summers and sea breezes, guides the ripening of the grapes, providing an intense aromatic profile and balanced structure that express the island’s character.
How it is produced
Manual harvesting ensures the selection of the best bunches. After destemming, fermentation takes place in stainless steel with skin maceration, allowing the must to extract color and tannins. Ageing continues for 12 months in the same vessels and then for at least 3 months in bottle. This process leads the wine to a harmony ready for release.
Tasting notes
Deep ruby red with garnet highlights. The bouquet reveals ripe red fruits, with notes of carob and violet. On the palate, it has a velvety texture with fine tannins and a freshness that supports the persistence. The finish recalls the harmony between softness and savoriness, inviting another sip.
Food pairings
Perfect with pasta dishes with meat ragout, mushroom risottos and braised or stewed dishes. Ideal with grilled pork or lamb and regional specialties such as pasta alla Norma. The combination of fruit and polished tannins also enhances light game and semi-aged cheeses, offering great versatility at the table.
When to serve it
Salina Rosso di Hauner can be enjoyed just a few months after bottling and shows good ageing potential for several years. Serve slightly chilled in large glasses to showcase its aromatic profile and structure.
