Description
What kind of wine it is
L'Or de Sergolle is a Sauternes, a white wine from grapes affected by noble rot, with very low yields and meticulous aging that define its finesse and elegance.
Where it comes from
The wine originates in the Sauternes area in Bordeaux, a region characterized by a unique microclimate that favors the development of noble rot on the grapes. It is produced by Baron de Sergolle, under the Appellation Sauternes Contrôlée designation.
How it is made
The grapes, selected for the presence of noble rot, are harvested at very low yields to concentrate sugars and aromas. The wine then undergoes careful aging, which consolidates its structure and balance before bottling.
Tasting notes
It shows a bright golden hue with amber highlights. On the nose it offers nuances of honey and candied apricot, notes of acacia blossom and exotic fruit, accompanied by delicate accents of saffron and citrus peel. The palate is velvety and harmonious, with a rich structure and an enveloping sweetness, balanced by a lingering finish in which sweetness and acidity find perfect equilibrium.
What it pairs with
It pairs perfectly with foie gras and blue cheeses such as Roquefort. It is also a successful match for fruit-based desserts and for spicy Asian cuisine.
When to serve it
Thanks to its velvety sweetness and lively underlying acidity, it is ideal at the end of a meal or alongside flavorful, spicy dishes, served well-chilled to enhance its aromatic freshness.
