Description

The Pinotage from Villiera winery is a red wine produced in South Africa with Pinotage grapes grown in Stellenbosch, primarily from old vines. This grape variety, born from the cross between Pinot Noir and Cinsault, is the emblem of South Africa's wine heritage, known for its aromatic intensity and terroir expression.

The grapes are handpicked at the perfect level of ripeness, destemmed and fermented in stainless steel at 28°C with frequent pump-overs. After pressing, the wine completes malolactic fermentation in tank and is then transferred into French oak barrels, 25% of which are new, where it matures for 10 months before bottling.

The bouquet is rich with ripe plum, sweet spices, and a touch of vanilla. On the palate, it is smooth yet well-structured, with good persistence and notes of black fruit, vanilla, and mocha accompanying an elegant, velvety finish.

Perfect with roast ham, osso buco, game, spicy stews, or baked lasagna.
