Description

Eruzione 1614 Pinot Nero by Planeta is produced in Sicily, specifically on the terraced vineyards of Sciaranuova, near the lava flows left by the 1614 eruption. These soils, dark and mineral-rich due to the presence of volcanic sands, endow the wine with unique characteristics. Viticulture is managed in respect of the surrounding environment and maintains the natural balance of the terroir.

Harvesting is carried out by hand with selected grapes that are cooled before destemming, which is done without crushing. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled concrete tanks with gentle manual punch-downs. The process includes 13 days of skin maceration, followed by a delicate pressing. The wine is aged in steel and ceramic containers.

It displays a bright red colour, expressing elegance and delicacy. On the nose, it reveals a complex aromatic profile with hints of flint, ink, wild plums and cherries. On the palate, the wine offers a structure of velvety yet lively tannins, resulting in a balanced and pleasantly persistent tasting experience that brings good vibes.

Recommended pairings include refined dishes such as quail and woodcock, ideal to enhance its organoleptic qualities. It also pairs beautifully with cheeses like fresh caciocavallo or with vegetable dishes such as a cauliflower flan, creating a perfect harmony between food and wine that enhances both elements.
