Description
What kind of wine is it
Belnero by Banfi is a Tuscan Red from Sangiovese and other complementary grape varieties. It stands out for its structured style and complexity, resulting from fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature and 14 months of aging in barriques. These winemaking choices develop an elegant profile and full body, with good ageing potential in the bottle.
Where it comes from
Belnero is born in the southern part of Montalcino, between the Orcia and Ombrone rivers. This area, known for its winemaking history, gives the wine a bold and distinctive character.
How it is made
Fermentation takes place in stainless steel at 24-26 °C for 8-12 days, followed by 14 months of aging in barriques. Additional bottle aging completes the process and ensures balance and complexity.
Tasting notes
To the eye, Belnero shows an intense and deep red mauve color. The nose reveals cherries and plums, with hints of vanilla, tobacco, and coffee from the aging in barriques. On the palate, it is full and structured, with smooth tannins and pleasing acidity that brings balance. The finish is persistent, with recurring notes of dark fruit and sweet spices.
Food pairing
Belnero pairs well with grilled red meats, soups and stews, and aged cheeses. Its structure and supple tannins enhance its lingering finish and aromatic profile.
When to serve
It is best served at 18-20 °C in large glasses, to encourage aeration and full expression of its aromas. Its structure allows for immediate enjoyment or cellaring for several years. Ideal for convivial occasions or tasting moments, it offers a rewarding experience from the first sip to the long finish.
