Description
What kind of wine it is
Oreno by Tenuta Sette Ponti is a red wine produced in Tuscany from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot grapes. This enveloping Bordeaux-style blend boasts a clear territorial identity, built on aromatic precision and structure. After fermentation and a slow aging process in French barriques, it rests in bottle. The result is a harmonious profile, both fruity and spicy, with a remarkable ability to evolve.
Where it comes from
This red originates from the vineyards of Tenuta Sette Ponti, in the agricultural locality from which it takes its name. The south-facing plots are home to historic vines with an average age of up to seventy-five years. The estate is crossed by the Oreno river, a feature that identifies the area of origin. Growing in this particular Tuscan microclimate gives the wine a distinctive style, marked by pronounced elegance and solidity.
How it is made
Production begins with a meticulous manual harvest of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot grapes. Fermentation involves a twenty-five day maceration, accompanied by frequent punch-downs to ensure optimal extraction. The wine then matures in French barriques for twelve to eighteen months. This is followed by a one year maturation in glass before release, to integrate fruity aromas with those from the wood.
Tasting notes
Visually, it displays a deep ruby red color with lively violet highlights. On the nose, clear aromas of ripe red fruit are complemented by elegant balsamic notes and hints of chocolate from the wood. On the palate, the wine shows a fruity and spicy progression, supported by a well-defined structure. The finish is harmonious, leaving a long-lasting taste in line with the aromas detected on the nose.
Food pairings
Its remarkable structure and spicy notes make it ideal to accompany fine meats and noble game. The intense flavor profile pairs wonderfully with rich braised red meats or important roasts. True to its origins, it is an excellent match for Florentine steak and game-based recipes, such as stewed wild boar, enhancing the balsamic nuances in the glass.
When to serve it
This red is the perfect choice for table occasions with intense and structured menus. Its balanced nature makes it thoroughly enjoyable from release, even though it has the capacity for long aging. It is best appreciated when you are looking for a well-ordered but complex glass of wine, with clear aromatic definition. It is a label suited for evenings dedicated to Tuscan reds with an international inspiration.
