Cepparello reveals on the nose a refined elegance of violet, rose and vivid red fruit of marasca cherry and blackberry, interwoven with sweet spices and coffee. On the palate it is generous and balanced, with a robust structure that leads into a long, seductive finish. A Sangiovese of splendid persistence, ideal alongside grilled red meats, game and aged cheeses.

Description

What type of wine is it

Cepparello by Isole e Olena is a Tuscan red made exclusively with estate Sangiovese from selected clones. It comes from grapes picked in the sunniest and most ventilated vineyards, on well-drained galestro soils. It ferments in conical French oak vats and continues with a long stay in barrique and bottle ageing, offering a full, precise and balanced profile.

Where it comes from

Cepparello comes from Tuscany and is born in the vineyards of Isole e Olena. The selected parcels are those most exposed to sun and winds, conditions that favour complete and even ripening. The naturally well-drained galestro soils help shape a concentrated and pure Sangiovese, with structure and continuity on the palate.

How it is made

The Sangiovese grapes from selected clones are rigorously hand-picked between the second and third week of October, at peak ripeness. Fermentation takes place in conical vats of French oak, with an approach focused on extraction and precision. The wine ages for 18 months in barrique and completes its course with a year of bottle ageing, integrating structure and aromatic complexity.

Tasting notes

In the glass it shows ruby red with purple highlights. On the nose, aromas of violet and rose are followed by marasca cherry, blackberry and raspberry, with nuances of sweet spices, coffee and forest floor. On the palate it is exuberant yet balanced, with a seamless texture and a long finish. The persistence is in line with the nose, delivering a refined and seductive whole.

Food pairings

It pairs naturally with game and charcoal-grilled red meats, complementing their succulence and aromatic intensity, and it is also well suited to aged cheeses. Its structure and length make it ideal for rich, flavourful dishes, where the spicy and forest-floor notes find a direct harmony with more intense preparations.

When to serve it

This is a red to choose when you want an estate Sangiovese that offers intensity, balance and a complex aromatic component, ideal for special-occasion lunches and dinners based on meat or game. The time in barrique and subsequent bottle ageing make it suited to moments when you seek a more integrated texture and a clearer definition on the palate.
