Description
The Quercegrosse is a Tuscan wine from the young winery Vallepicciola, located in the Pievasciata area, in the municipality of Castelnuovo Berardenga, where it manages 105 hectares of vineyards following the principles of sustainable agriculture. The Merlot vines are situated at 350–400 m a.s.l.
The wine is 100% Merlot, harvested at the end of September. Maceration and alcoholic fermentation take place in concrete tanks at controlled temperature for 20–25 days. Malolactic fermentation occurs in French oak barriques (30% new), where the wine also ages for 12–14 months, followed by a further 6–8 months of bottle ageing.
In the glass, the wine shows a deep ruby red colour. The nose opens with aromas of black fruit, blackberry, blueberry and subtle aromatic herbs. On the palate it is warm and full-bodied, with silky tannins.
Ideal with roasted and grilled meats.
