Description
What kind of wine is it
Trento Brut Riserva Michei 823 by Hofstätter is a Traditional Method sparkling wine made from Pinot Noir grapes grown on the hills of Trentino. This wine highlights elegance and complexity, with a balanced structure and a fine, persistent perlage. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature, followed by a long ageing on the lees in bottle for 60 months, giving depth and freshness. Notes of white fruit and fresh bread reflect a clear-cut style.
Where does it come from
The grapes come from Maso Michei, an estate located at high altitude in the Little Dolomites in Trentino. The alpine climate with significant temperature changes promotes slow and even ripening of Pinot Noir. Vinification takes place according to the Traditional Method.
How is it made
Harvesting by hand takes place in mid-September, selecting the best grape bunches. After a gentle pressing, the must ferments at a controlled temperature to preserve freshness and aromas. The second fermentation in bottle according to the Traditional Method, and lees ageing for 60 months, develop complexity and finesse.
Tasting notes
It shows a bright straw yellow colour and a fine, persistent perlage. The nose reveals intense aromas of ripe white fruit, citrus, and a biscuity note due to the extended yeast contact. On the palate it is fresh and savoury, with silky bubbles enhancing the structure and the balance between acidity and smoothness. The finish is long, with citrusy returns and hints of bread crust.
Pairings
Thanks to its balanced acidity and aromatic richness, this sparkling wine pairs well with appetizers, shellfish, fish dishes, and white meat.
When to serve it
Best served chilled to appreciate its freshness and vibrant perlage. The good structure and lees ageing can support interesting evolution in the bottle.
