Description
What kind of wine is it
Veneto Rosso Brentino by Maculan is a structured red made from Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes grown on the hills of Breganze. The winemaking process includes fermentation in stainless steel and aging divided between stainless steel and French oak barriques, giving the wine a balanced combination of freshness and complexity. The aromatic profile is fresh, with elegant notes and a structure suited for moderate aging potential.
Where it comes from
Rosso Brentino originates in Breganze, in a hilly landscape at the foot of the Venetian Prealps, sheltered by the Asiago Plateau. The temperate climate and marked temperature fluctuations allow a regular ripening of the grapes.
How it is produced
Fermentation takes place in stainless steel at a controlled temperature. After malolactic fermentation, the wine ages for twelve months, half in stainless steel and half in French oak barriques.
Tasting notes
In the glass, it displays an intense ruby red color with violet highlights. The bouquet offers aromas of ripe red fruits such as cherry and plum, with hints of vanilla and tobacco from the aging in barriques. On the palate, it is dry, full-bodied, with smooth, well-integrated tannins for a velvety texture. The finish is persistent, with returning fruity notes and light spice.
Food pairings
Rosso Brentino pairs well with pasta dishes featuring game sauces, roasted red meats, and grilled beef or lamb. Its structure also matches well with aged cheeses such as mature pecorino. In regional cuisine, it complements risotto al tastasal and mixed boiled meats from Veneto, offering a harmonious combination with the local gastronomic tradition.
When to serve it
Thanks to its tannic structure and balance between freshness and oak notes, this wine is ready to drink a few months after release. Serving at 16-18°C is recommended to enhance its aromas and flavors. Best appreciated in the first few years to enjoy its elegance and complexity.
