Description
What kind of wine is it
Rincrocca by La Staffa is a white wine made from Verdicchio grapes, in the Riserva version of Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico. It has a full, saline character, with a creamy texture and good persistence. It’s a structured white, ideal for those looking for a substantial Verdicchio.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from a vineyard of about two hectares owned by La Staffa, planted in 1972 in Contrada Castellaretta, in Staffolo, in the Marche. The soil is clay-limestone, with a high presence of calcium carbonate and a marked saline component, typical of the area. This terroir contributes to the wine’s salinity and mineral stamp.
How it’s made
The Verdicchio grapes are harvested by hand and undergo soft pressing. The musts settle statically and ferment in concrete, with spontaneous fermentation started by a pied de cuvée. The wine ages for 12 months in concrete tanks on the fine lees, then rests for a long time in bottle before release.
Tasting notes
The color is straw yellow with some greenish highlights. On the nose, ripe aromas of apple and citrus stand out, with floral notes of sage and bergamot. On the palate it shows density and fullness, framed by good salinity that gives way to creamy nuances and good length.
Food pairing
Perfect with white meats served with sauces. It also pairs well with fried fish, where the salinity supports the crispness, and with vegetarian first courses.
When to serve it
A white suited to a special meal, where its structure meets dishes of equal stature. The long time in bottle makes it ready to drink. Serve in a wide glass to enhance its aromas and creamy texture.
