Description
What type of wine is it?
The Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore San Paterniano by Tenuta Mattei is a white wine made from Verdicchio grapes grown on the hills of the Marche region. It features a fresh and elegant style, with a balanced structure and full body. Fermentation in stainless steel at a controlled temperature preserves the varietal notes, while a short period of bottle aging gives it a clear and immediately accessible profile.
Where does it come from?
It originates in the Castelli di Jesi area, in the Marche region, where the vineyards of Tenuta Mattei epitomize the character of the denomination.
How is it produced?
The grapes are hand-picked into crates to protect their freshness and integrity. After gentle pressing, the must undergoes static cold decantation to clarify naturally. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel with temperature control.
Tasting notes
Pale straw yellow color with greenish reflections. Aromas of exotic fruit, apple, and peach, along with wildflowers and hints of coconut. On the palate it is soft, with pronounced freshness, medium body, and a harmonious finish featuring fruity nuances.
Food pairings
Verdicchio San Paterniano pairs well with light vegetable appetizers or delicate cured meats, seafood starters such as seafood risotto and linguine with clams, and main courses of fish like baked sea bass or baked trout. It also works with mildly seasoned white meats, bruschetta with olives, and the Adriatic fish stew tradition.
When to serve it
Best consumed within the first year. Perfect for aperitif and everyday dining, and also suitable for informal occasions where balance and a clean finish are desired. Serve chilled, around 10-12 °C, as commonly recommended for white wines.
