Description
What type of wine is it?
Vin de France Chardonnay by Jaffelin is a still white wine made from selected Chardonnay grapes sourced from various regions across France. Vinification in steel brings out a dry and fresh style, with no wood influence, resulting in a crisp fruit character and easy drinkability. The profile is modern, balancing acidity and roundness, just right for those who appreciate a straightforward, well-structured wine.
Where does it come from?
The Vin de France designation points to a broad French origin, with Chardonnay grapes harvested in oceanic, continental, and temperate climates. This approach ensures consistent freshness and fruit maturity. Soils range from limestone to clay and sand, with low or hilly elevations that promote clean aromas and regular acidity. The result is a Chardonnay with a focused, linear profile.
How is it made?
Grapes are harvested at full ripeness to preserve their primary aromas and acidity. After gentle pressing, fermentation takes place in steel vats at controlled temperatures to protect the most delicate aromatic compounds. Six months of aging in steel maintain varietal freshness and limit oxidation, yielding a clean and lively sip.
Tasting notes
Bright golden yellow in the glass, with the clarity and texture typical of a medium-bodied white wine. The nose offers floral aromas, green apple, and nectarine, with distinct fruit notes and no toasted hints. On the palate it is dry and very fresh, with integrated acidity and balanced roundness. The finish is pleasant and medium in length, with lingering white-fleshed fruit.
Pairings
Pairs well with cold cuts, grilled fish, and poultry, highlighting the freshness of dishes without overpowering their flavors. Perfect with simple shellfish, poulet rôti or light quiche lorraine, as well as Italian dishes like grilled sea bass or chicken salad. Its good acidity and fruity character also complement light citrus or herb-based sauces.
When to serve
Ideal for aperitifs, casual lunches, and dinners featuring fish or poultry, where balance and freshness are desired. Serve at 8–10 °C in a medium-sized white wine glass to emphasize floral and fruity notes. Best enjoyed within 18–24 months of bottling to retain its lively, precise aromas. Once opened, if well sealed and refrigerated, the wine remains intact for one or two days.
