Description
What kind of wine is it?
Vino de la Tierra de Ibiza Blanc by Can Rich is a white wine made from Malvasía and Moscatel Grano Menudo grown in Ibiza. The style focuses on freshness, precise aromas, and an easy-drinking character, with a fragrant and well-defined profile. Fermentation and aging take place exclusively in stainless steel, with no oak contact, so the varietal character remains vivid. The wine is medium-bodied and balanced, suitable for aperitifs and at the table, with pronounced acidity that gives good persistence.
Where does it come from?
The grapes come from the vineyards of Can Rich and Can Llaudis, in the heart of the Balearic Islands. The climate is Mediterranean, with hot summers, sea breezes, and mild winters that preserve acidity and ensure steady ripening. The soils are poor in limestone and finely textured, with good water retention: these conditions limit vigor and concentrate floral and citrus aromas. The island environment and local tradition guide a clean and straightforward profile.
How is it made?
Production follows the principles of organic farming, with care taken for grape health and balanced vine growth. Harvesting occurs when grapes reach aromatic maturity, to support fresh aromas and a crisp palate. After gentle pressing, the must ferments in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, so the wine preserves the most volatile compounds and limits oxidation. Aging continues in steel, with possible brief lees contact to add roundness and stability, all while maintaining a pure, unoaked style.
Tasting notes
Bright straw yellow with greenish highlights, clear and brilliant, in line with steel tank winemaking striving for freshness. The nose is aromatic and intense, with lemon and mandarin zest, then pear and white nectarine, alongside Mediterranean flowers accented by fennel and chamomile. On the palate, it's broad and juicy, with a lively progression supported by balanced acidity and a saline feel reminiscent of its maritime origins. The finish is clean, refreshing, and persistent on citrus and floral tones.
Food pairings
Pairs well with light appetizers and dishes that highlight delicacy and freshness, such as aromatic salads, fish carpaccio, and tempura vegetables. With grilled white fish it finds a natural balance thanks to its acidity and clean finish; also ideal with shellfish and mollusks. In Spanish cuisine, it suits seafood tapas and seafood paella, where the citrus and saline notes enhance rice and shellfish. Also suitable for fresh cheeses and dishes with Mediterranean herbs, as long as they're not too spicy.
When to serve it
Perfect for casual occasions and fish dinners, but it can also match a full meal thanks to its structure and smoothness. Best served at 8–10 °C in a medium-sized glass to allow its citrus and floral aromas to shine. The wine delivers its best within the first two years after release; a short maturation may add roundness. Also excellent as an opening wine in warmer seasons, when its crisp finish is especially enjoyable.
