Description

What type of wine is it

Lausos by Can Rich is an organic red wine with great structure, born from the blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Classified as Vino de la Tierra de Ibiza, it expresses an elegant and profound profile, characterized by clear aging potential. The vinification process ends with maturation in French oak barriques, which helps to define its complexity. Its full and precise style prepares the palate for an enveloping tasting experience, supported by well-crafted tannins.

Origin

The grapes come from the Buscastell estate, located on the island of Ibiza and included in the Vino de la Tierra de Ibiza designation. The vineyards are rooted in well-drained limestone soils, an agronomic condition that creates an ideal balance between concentration and flavour definition. The area’s Mediterranean climate supports complete and regular ripening, imparting a solid structure and marked aromatic intensity that lingers on the palate.

Production method

Production begins with a meticulous vinification of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, aimed at extracting finesse and elegance. Once fermentation is complete, the wine matures for twelve months in French oak barriques, a crucial step for refining the tannic framework. This aging phase integrates the features of the blend with evolved nuances, resulting in a technically precise profile where fruit harmoniously interacts with toasted notes.

Tasting notes

Deep in the glass, it offers a profound ruby hue, in line with its significant structural fabric. The nose reveals a layered profile, highlighted by aromas of ripe dark fruits, graphite, cocoa, and tobacco, delicately accompanied by hints of sandalwood. On the palate, it shows silkiness and breadth, sustained by persistent flavor progression and polished tannins. The long, orderly finish recalls the dark and spicy sensations perceived on the nose and confirms its harmony.

Food pairing

This red wine pairs naturally with substantial red meats, game-based dishes, and aged cheeses, enhancing the persistence of each sip. Its refined tannic structure makes it the perfect companion for flavorful dishes and slow-cooked recipes, able to withstand intense flavours and succulence. Among local specialities, it marries beautifully with the traditional sofrit pagès, rich and aromatic, while also accompanying Spanish roasts with equal effectiveness.

When to serve

Lausos is the ideal choice when looking for a characterful bottle for important convivial moments. Its time in barrique and remarkable aging potential make it perfect for long-term cellaring, allowing its sensory profile to evolve over time. It can be opened immediately to appreciate its silky texture, or cellared to achieve a higher integration of fruit and aged notes.
