Description
What kind of wine is it?
Rosat d’Àmfora by Can Rich is a rosé made from Monastrell grapes. It stands out for its fresh, mineral, and balanced style, boasting a defined but not heavy structure. Vinification and maturation in terracotta amphorae enhance the aromatic purity and lend a savory finish, preserving the identity of the grape and offering a vibrant, clean profile.
Where does it come from?
The grapes are grown on the Buscastell estate in Ibiza, in a Mediterranean climate with hot summers and maritime influence. The limestone, well-draining soils favor even ripening and bring out a mineral and fresh character. The island environment, with its persistent winds and intense sunlight, ensures smooth drinkability and a distinctive character tied to the island’s viticulture.
How is it made?
The Monastrell grapes are harvested to strike a balance between ripeness and freshness. The skins remain in contact with the juice for a short period, suitable for a rosé, and fermentation occurs at controlled temperature to preserve primary aromas. After about six months of aging in terracotta amphorae, gentle micro-oxygenation enhances the purity of the fruit and the wine’s mineral edge, without the use of wooden barrels.
Tasting notes
It presents a bright rosé color with highlights reminiscent of red apple skin. Its ample bouquet reveals violet and red flowers, currant, red apple, and candied fruit, underpinned by a mineral note. On the palate, it is fresh and focused, with salinity sustaining the overall progression. The finish remains balanced, savory, and slightly earthy, with a dry, precise persistence.
Food pairing
This rosé is a perfect partner for smoked fish, herb risottos, and main courses of grilled vegetables. Its freshness and salty note cleanse the palate from the fattiness of dishes, while the savory finish enhances local recipes like bullit de peix. It also pairs well with arroz a banda, where the acidity and minerality complement the spiciness and marine character.
Serving suggestions
Rosat d’Àmfora is at its best in spring and summer, as a table wine for those looking for vibrancy and clarity along with good structure. Serve ideally at 10–12 °C in a medium-sized glass to highlight its floral, fruity, and mineral notes. Amphora aging allows a brief evolution, but the wine expresses aromatic energy and salinity within a few years from harvest, as an aperitif or throughout a Mediterranean meal.
