gin
Gin is an alcoholic drink of Dutch origin obtained from the distillation of a fermented wheat and rye based product, in which a mixture of herbs and spices, called botanicals, is macerated. Among these we also find juniper berries which characterize their perfume and taste. Much appreciated also by the British, the gin "recipe" was imported to the United Kingdom, where the distillate underwent an evolution in the production technique: a first distillation and flavoring with juniper berries, coriander and other aromatic herbs , such as anise and fennel seeds, lemon and orange peel, licorice root, cardamom, cumin and almonds, followed by a second distillation to give London Dry Gin. Gin is ideal as an aperitif and as an ingredient for various cocktails and long drinks.
