The history of the Mazzei family coincides with that of the Castello di Fonterutoli and represents one of the most decisive moments in the great tale of Chianti Classico. Wine has been produced in Fonterutoli since 1435 but it is in 1398 that one has to return to find the first mention of the Chianti appellation in the correspondence between Ser Lapo Mazzei and the merchant Francesco Datini.
The Chianti Classico Riserva Ser Lapo (94 pt JS) undoubtedly belongs to this long-standing history, a true emblem of the category thanks to aging of 12 months in small French oak barrels that give the nose fruits of the forest and an enviable structure, finished in momentum and density by soft and well-balanced tannins, for a long-lasting finish and a perfectly enveloping sip. Chianti Classico DOCG Riserva Ser Lapo 2022 Marchesi Mazzei
The Ser Lapo Riserva was born within the Castello Fonterutoli company, owned by the Mazzei family, located in the heart of the splendid Chianti Classico area.
It is mainly produced with Sangiovese and Merlot grapes, harvested manually in the second half of September. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 26-28 ° C for 15-18 days. Subsequently the wine ages for 12 months in small French oak barrels, before being bottled.
