Aubert et Mathieu
Aubert & Mathieu is a young négociant house from Languedoc-Roussillon in the south of France, born from the friendship between two former schoolmates: Anthony Aubert, an explorer and wine expert with a master’s degree in wine business and years of experience with overseas importers, and Jean-Charles Mathieu, who oversees the financial side of the project.
Their approach is simple and modern: select the best plots directly from growers, working closely with each of them, with a preference for high-altitude vineyards. The result is wines that express appellations such as Limoux, Minervois, Corbières, Terrasses du Larzac and Languedoc, crafted from grape varieties like Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc.
The maison’s philosophy can be summed up by the motto "drink less, but better": fresh, fruity and balanced wines designed to shake up traditional codes. Environmental commitment is concrete: Aubert & Mathieu is B Corp certified, around 80% of the cuvées are certified organic, suppliers are chosen within 100 km of production, and the bottles are made from lightweight recycled glass and have no capsule.
The range is full of personality: from the Terroir range, awarded Best Packaging in 2019 by Harpers Wine & Spirits, to Hautes Pistes, from the organic The Crew line to the Palooza wines and the Sauvage collection, all the way to Crémant de Limoux Baburu and the non-alcoholic sparkling rosé Kisumé.
Creativity, respect for the land and a passion for the great terroirs of the South of France make Aubert & Mathieu one of the most original voices of the new Languedoc.
