San Polo
San Polo is an outstanding winery located on the southeastern slope of Montalcino, in the Podernovi area, at about 450 meters above sea level. Founded in 2001 and acquired in 2007 by Marilisa Allegrini, it covers 22 hectares, 16 of which are vineyards. The company is renowned for its exclusive production of wines from Sangiovese grapes, with particular attention to sustainability and the enhancement of the terroir. The winery is an example of bioarchitecture: completely buried, it uses natural solutions to regulate temperature and humidity, such as the thermal labyrinth, solar chimneys, and hygroscopic tuff cladding. This approach ensures ideal conditions for the winemaking and aging processes. San Polo has been certified organic since 2017 and obtained Equalitas certification in 2020. Under the guidance of winemaker Riccardo Fratton, San Polo has adopted the parcelling of the vineyards, producing distinctive crus. Each wine represents a single expression of the Montalcino terroir, offering complexity, elegance, and authenticity.
