Montepulciano d'Abruzzo
Montepulciano is a black grape variety grown mainly in the Marche, Abruzzo and other central-southern regions. It is a fundamental basis not only for the famous Montepulciano d'Abruzzo , but also for the Marche denominations Conero DOCG and Rosso Piceno DOC . It is a vine that is not easy to manage, due to its angular and rebellious character but which, thanks to the careful work of some winemakers and oenologists, is today recognized as one of the most important and most appreciated vines of Central Italy and from which wines of high quality .
Vinified in purity, it gives rise to wines with an intense ruby red color, with a scent of ripe red fruit and spices , both sweet and spicy. On the palate it is warm and majestic, with balanced tannins and high concentrations of extract. Perfect to accompany dishes with strong flavours, such as lamb and kid, braised meats and game dishes, it is ideal in combination with saffron risottos, spicy oriental dishes and mature cheeses.
