Banfi was the first to introduce international vines to the Montalcino area . Since the early 1980s, Pinot Grigio, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir have been planted together with Sangiovese, the indigenous grape of Montalcino. In the following years, thanks also to the perfect adaptability of these to the soils and the climate of the estate, vineyards of Syrah, Merlot, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc are planted. Since 1985, when the Summus first saw the light, the Banfi Supertuscan family has expanded. Cum Laude and Belnero are the latest born and, like Summus, represent the Banfi philosophy, in which Sangiovese, present in all three wines, represents the strong link with the Montalcino territory, while international vines are research and look to the future. Summus is an assembly of Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese and Syrah which give a very thick wine, also suitable for long aging. Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah make up Cum Laude. A harmonious, pleasant, highly drinkable wine. Belnero, Cabernet Sauvignon combined with Sangiovese and Merlot, is the perfect wine for special occasions, for refined palates who want an important wine, but easy to drink. Suitable for the whole meal, it goes well with traditional Tuscan dishes, but also with kitchens from other regions, as well as ethnic dishes.
