Originally from Kentucky, Bourbon owes its name to Bourbon County, named after the Bourbon family. It must be produced in the United States, from a mixture of cereals made up of at least 51% of corn and aged in toasted oak barrels, which give the whiskey its characteristic vanilla aroma .

The distinctive feature of Tennessee Whiskey, in addition to the state of origin, is the Lincoln County Process which involves filtering with maple carbon before aging, which makes it even softer.

Rye Whiskey is instead drier and spicier, distilled from at least 51% rye.

They can be eaten straight, on the rocks or as a base for cocktails , including Manhattan, Mint Julep and Whiskey Sour, while they find their ideal pairing with grilled red meats from the American barbecue .
