Historic distillery located on the north-east coast of Islay, Caol Ila takes its name from the channel that separates it from the island of Jura. It is in this evocative landscape that Hector Henderson, already owner of a distillery in Glasgow, having identified on the spot the presence of the ideal ingredients to produce quality whiskey, founded the distillery in 1846. Despite having undergone several closings and changes of ownership in its history , Caol Ila still remains the largest distillery on the island of Islay .
Caol Ila's Single Malts are among the lightest and most elegant of Islay and generally have a light straw yellow color and floral scents accompanied by notes of spices and turbidity. In addition to the 12-year-old classic, the range consists of a younger and softer "Moch" No Age Statement and limited availability Special Release, including the "Unpeated", characterized by lighter or absent turbidity.
