Probably of Veronese origin, Teroldego is an important black grape variety present for centuries in Trentino which finds its territory of choice in the flat area of Campo Rotaliano, in particular in the localities of Mezzocorona, Mezzolombardo and San Michele dell'Adige. From genetic investigations, it seems to have some similarities with Lagrein, Marzemino and Syrah and although they are not certain, it is presumed to have Middle Eastern origins.

The territory of origin, of a tendentially alluvial nature and with a rather warm climate, offers the ideal conditions for the perfect ripening of the grapes and the production of high quality wines.

Teroldego has become the symbolic wine of the Piana Rotaliana and only here does it reach those peaks of excellence that have led it to be one of the most appreciated red wines in the region. From these grapes an intense ruby-colored wine with purple-violet reflections is obtained, which is fruity on the nose with hints of raspberry, violet, cherries, almond and balsamic notes. A wine that does not suffer from the passage of time, ideal for aging, slightly tannic, structured, robust and with good acidity.

It is a rather ductile red wine at the table. It goes well with pasta dishes with savory meat sauces, with roasts, grilled meats or game. Among the prestigious wines obtained from the Teroldego grape, the "Teroldego Rotaliano" of Villa Vescovile, the "Teroldego Rotaliano Superiore Riserva Maso" of Cavit , the Teroldego Rotaliano Pini di? Roberto? Zeni (3 Glasses Gambero Rosso) and the wines of the well-known Foradori winery, among which the "Granato Teroldego" (5 Grappoli Bibenda) stands out.
