gewürztraminer
Gewürztraminer is one of the few aromatic grape varieties. Its grapes already possess the same aromas which are then found in the wine, with a perfect olfactory and gustatory correspondence. It is a variety generated by a natural genetic mutation of savagnin, one of the oldest grapes in central Europe, originally from the region of France. northeastern. Savagnin could in turn be the result of a spontaneous cross between pinot and a variety unknown today. There are indeed genetic similarities between the two vines, but it is difficult to reconstruct a genealogical tree with certainty. The savagnin blanc or traminer therefore represents a first clonal mutation of the savagnin, which was followed by a second mutation, which generated the aromatic traminer or gewürztraminer . All within a geographical area between France and Germany. In Italy it is grown mainly in South Tyrol, in the area of Termeno and in the Valle Isarco, where it expresses itself with fresher and less opulent notes.
