Emilia IGT Ageno 2012 La Stoppa
Description
The Emilia Bianco Ageno of the La Stoppa winery was born in Val Trebbiola, in the heart of the Piacenza hills, from organically grown vineyards with an average age of 40 years. This wine is inspired by the determination of the previous owner, the lawyer Ageno, who immediately believed in the potential of this wine-growing area.
It is obtained from Malvasia di Candia Aromatica grapes and with Ortrugo and Trebbiano grapes. The vinification involves a long maceration on the skins without any addition of sulfur dioxide. 12 months aging follows, partly in steel and partly in French oak barrels, then for another 24 months in bottle before being marketed again.
Ageno signed La Stoppa is characterized by an orange color. It has an expressive aromatic range of cedar and peach, with pleasant floral notes of freesia. On the palate it is a wine with a strong, dry and full-bodied character, unusually tannic, thanks to the long maceration.
Ideal in combination with grilled or stewed fish, it accompanies seasoned cheeses pleasantly.
