Description
What kind of wine is it
Abruzzo Pecorino Bianchi Grilli per la Testa by Torre dei Beati is a white wine made from Pecorino grapes grown in Abruzzo, in the Loreto Aprutino area. The barrique fermentation and subsequent work on the lees define a precise style, where freshness and minerality blend with measured roundness. The result is a structured white, with aromatic complexity and a clear reflection of its territory of origin.
Where does it come from
The grapes come from vineyards located in the ancient municipality of Loreto Aprutino, in the province of Pescara. This hilly context in Abruzzo gives the wine a balance between tension and substance on the palate, consistent with a winemaking process that also involves wood. The origin is central to the style of the Bianchi Grilli per la Testa line and allows the grape variety to express its identity in its own environment.
How it is produced
It is produced entirely from Pecorino grapes harvested and selected exclusively by hand. After harvesting, fermentation takes place in barriques, which affects structure and aromatic development. The wine then matures for 9 months on its lees, gaining volume and definition, and completes its aging process with another 12 months in bottle before being released to the market.
Tasting notes
In the glass, it shows a bright straw yellow. The nose reveals balsamic and spicy notes, related to the evolution of Pecorino in wood, followed by an intense and complex bouquet reflecting the terroir. On the palate, the entry is fresh, the texture reveals a clear mineral imprint and the roundness remains balanced, with a clean and persistent finish.
Food pairings
It pairs well with pasta and risotto with vegetable sauces, where freshness and minerality complement the aromas of the dish. It is also suitable for fish and shellfish, thanks to the structure provided by fermentation in barrique and maturation on the lees, elements that support more flavorsome preparations without weighing down the palate.
When to serve it
It is suitable when looking for a fresh and mineral white but with more body, ideal both at the table and for tasting sessions. The ageing in barrique and the long maturation on the lees and in bottle make it a good match for dishes that require a wine with depth and precision. It is best served after release, when the aging process envisaged by the producer is already complete.
