Description
Whiskey belonging to the private editions of Glenmorangie, Allta is the first of the distillery to be produced with the yeast that grows spontaneously on Cadboll barley, accidentally discovered by the director himself Bill Lumsden. Hence the name Allta, which in Scottish Gaelic means "wild", wild, like the yeast from which it derives. The spirit spends the aging period in ex-bourbon barrels.
It appears pale straw yellow in color. The nose expresses a round and broad fragrance, with biscuit and delicate floral notes that combine with vanilla and sweet mandarin aromas. In the mouth it is creamy and vanilla, with notes in the background that recall yeast, sweet chilli, as a premise for an elegant earthy finish.
It is ideal to serve straight, diluted with a few drops of water or on large ice cubes in a tumbler whiskey glass.
