Description
What kind of wine is it
Brigaldara’s Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is a full-bodied red wine made from Corvinone, Corvina, and Rondinella grapes, along with other typical varieties from the classic Valpolicella area. Its character derives from traditional drying and fermentation on the skins, which provide complexity and depth. Aging in barriques and oak barrels adds toasted and spicy notes, balancing freshness and warmth and offering significant aging potential.
Where does it come from
This Amarone comes from vineyards in San Floriano, in the Marano Valley in the classic Valpolicella area, in the province of Verona.
How is it produced
The grapes are hand-harvested in the second half of October and, after traditional drying, ferment on the skins with daily pump-overs to extract aroma and color. Aging continues for 12 months in barriques and a further 24 months in oak barrels, then a period in bottle follows to integrate and harmonize the bouquet.
Tasting notes
In the glass it shows an intense garnet red color with ruby highlights. The nose reveals sour cherry, ripe cherry, and dried plum, with hints of vanilla, cocoa, and sweet spices from the wood. On the palate, it offers a full and enveloping structure, with soft tannins and a balance of acidity and warmth, finishing long with lingering notes of ripe fruit and licorice.
Food pairings
Its richness and structure pair well with roasted red meats, braised dishes, and game stews. It also works beautifully with aged cheeses, enhancing intense and complex flavors.
When to serve it
It is recommended to serve Brigaldara’s Amarone della Valpolicella Classico slightly cool at room temperature in large glasses to promote oxygenation. Best enjoyed after a few years in the bottle, it can evolve over a long period. Ideal for special dinners, holidays, or convivial moments, it shows its best with structured and flavorful dishes.
