Description
Elio Altare's Barbera d'Alba is a wine produced in the commune of La Morra, made from Barbera grapes sourced from vineyards aged between 10 and 30 years, grown on soils that are partly calcareous and partly sandy, with east and north-east exposures. The production reflects a style that enhances freshness, balance and territorial character.
Vinification takes place through skin maceration in a rotofermenter at controlled temperature for several days, allowing for a precise extraction of color and aromas. This is followed by a brief maturation in used French barriques, which helps to enrich the wine without overpowering its varietal character.
It presents an intense, dark purple-red color. The nose displays elegant blackberry scents accompanied by notes of sweet spices. On the palate, it is warm, full, and smooth, supported by proper acidity and a long finish that echoes red fruits.
It pairs perfectly with flavorful first courses, red meats, and medium-aged cheeses.
