Description
What kind of wine is it
The Barbera d'Alba Morosa by Pierpaolo Grasso is a Piedmontese red wine made from Barbera grapes. It shows a deep ruby color with great clarity and a fresh, velvety character, very easy-drinking. This is a red that evokes the blooming hills of the Langhe, with immediate fruit and a distinct spicy streak.
Where it comes from
Work in the vineyard and cellar is based on respect for the land, which the estate borrows from future generations and must return in good condition. This idea is summed up by the word "Vinnoviamo" on the labels, a play on words that links caring for the environment to a thoughtful way of making wine. In Neive the estate has built a winery that reflects this philosophy, with carefully chosen materials, a sustainable environmental footprint and spaces dedicated to guests, where you can take a break and savor the wine at leisure.
How it is made
Morosa is made solely from Barbera grapes. The aging takes place in stainless-steel tanks, a choice that preserves the purity of the fruit and the freshness of the variety, letting its varietal character clearly shine through.
Tasting notes
In appearance it is deep ruby and remarkably clear. On the nose, red fruits of blackberries and blackcurrant are immediately evident, giving way to balsamic notes of eucalyptus and a fine spice of black pepper, nutmeg and bay leaf. The palate is fresh and velvety, very easy-drinking, with a light sandy tannin and a finish of liquorice and spice.
Food pairings
Its body and freshness pair perfectly with bagna càuda, substantial first courses, grilled meats and aged cheeses. In richer dishes, the freshness of Barbera balances succulence and savoriness.
When to serve it
This is a versatile Barbera d'Alba, suited to family lunches, barbecues and dinners featuring Piedmontese dishes. Its fresh, velvety sip makes it enjoyable from the first glass, even for those new to Piedmont reds.
