Barbera d'Asti DOCG Superiore Nizza Anssèma 2011 Cascina Giovinale
Description
Anssèma wine was born in the vineyards of the Piedmontese company Cascina Giovinale, located in the splendid setting of the DOCG Nizza, in Piedmont.
It is made exclusively with Barbera grapes, harvested by hand at full maturity, in the first ten days of October. After destemming and maceration on the skins for about 8-10 days, a temperature-controlled fermentation process follows. Once the malolactic fermentation is complete, the wine is left to mature in wooden barrels, which give it tertiary values which amplify the complexity of the product.
It has a very intense ruby red color. The nose has an initial bouquet of fruit, above all plum, black currant and blackberry, and flowers, followed by a short oxygenation, toasted aromas of coffee beans and vanilla sensations conferred by the wood. In the mouth it is very elegant, with a good sapid vein and an excellent structural balance, with a persistent and slightly spicy finish.
It can accompany the whole meal very well: excellent with savory first courses, it is perfect with red meats and not too savory game. It also goes very well with slightly seasoned cold cuts.
