Description
What kind of wine it is
Barolo Bussia by Ceretto is a still red wine made exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes in the Langhe. It stands out for its structure and complexity, with a classic character that highlights present tannins and notable aging capacity. Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled steel tanks, and aging in oak barrels helps define its character. This is a wine suitable for important dishes and lends itself to long bottle aging.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from the Bussia geographical mention, one of the best-known subzones of the Barolo area, in the heart of the Langhe. Nebbiolo grown in this area expresses earthy aromas, undergrowth notes and a balance between energy and finesse.
How it is made
Alcoholic fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. After malolactic fermentation, the wine ages for 24 months in oak barrels before bottling. This process achieves a balance between structure and aromas.
Tasting notes
To the eye, Barolo Bussia appears bright red with garnet reflections, typical of Nebbiolo aged in wood. The nose offers notes of undergrowth, earth and ripe red fruit, with hints of citrus providing freshness. On the palate it is full-bodied and flavorful, with well-integrated tannins and a balanced progression. The acidity supports persistence and a dry, consistent finish that invites food pairings.
Food pairing
Thanks to its structure, tannin and aromatic intensity, Barolo Bussia pairs well with rich dishes and slow-cooked preparations. It is ideal with jugged hare, braised beef in Barolo and tajarin with meat ragout, enhancing the wine’s spicy and earthy character. It’s also suitable for pairing with matured hard cheeses and roasts of beef or game, especially when accompanied by autumnal sides.
When to serve
This wine is perfect for special occasions, such as Sunday lunches or winter dinners, where it can complement a complete menu. Oak barrel aging allows for lengthy cellar evolution: it can be enjoyed young for its energy, and maintains integrity over time.
