Description

What type of wine it is

Barolo Cerequio Michele Chiarlo is a dry red wine made exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes and produced in the municipality of La Morra, in the province of Cuneo, within a historic cru of the Barolo denomination, Cerequio. Its style is crafted through wood maceration during vinification and prolonged aging, resulting in a precise structure and a profile of measured elegance.

Where it comes from

The grapes are sourced from the vineyards of Cerequio, in the area of La Morra (Cuneo). This cru is considered one of the most important in the region and stands as a benchmark for Michele Chiarlo, giving rise to one of the estate’s signature labels. Originating from a single Cerequio lends the wine a distinct identity, deeply connected to its terroir.

How it is made

The grapes are harvested by hand, with selection of the clusters. Fermentation occurs in oak vats at controlled temperatures between 27 and 30 °C, with skin maceration for about 15 days. This is followed by aging in medium-capacity oak barrels for 24 months, finished with a further 15–16 months in the bottle, to enhance integration and flavor continuity.

Tasting notes

In the glass, it shows a garnet red color, with possible slight orange hues as it ages. The nose reveals intense aromas of red fruit, with cherry standing out, accompanied by notes of violet, vanilla, and licorice. On the palate, it is balsamic and elegant, with a long-lasting finish coherent with the aromas perceived on the nose.

Food pairings

At the table, it shines with red meat dishes, where its structure and persistence support richly flavored preparations. It is also a good match for aged cheeses, which highlight its palate structure and spicy nuances. The best pairings reflect a cuisine that is rich and full-flavored.

When to serve it

This red is perfect for convivial occasions where a structured and precise glass is desired, especially when paired with red meats and aged cheeses. As it evolves, it may develop orange reflections while maintaining a recognizable aromatic profile. This bottle is suitable for immediate enjoyment or for cellaring, according to individual serving and maturation preferences.
