Description
What kind of wine it is
Barolo Fossati by Roberto Voerzio is a red wine made exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes in the municipality of La Morra. The vinification process involves fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, followed by an elaborate aging process divided among wood, steel, and bottle. The result is a wine with a structured and balanced profile, distinguished by pronounced fruity and spicy notes that linger with a long-lasting finish on the palate.
Where it comes from
The grapes are sourced from vineyards carefully tended by Roberto Voerzio in the municipality of La Morra, within the renowned Barolo area, specifically from the Fossati cru. In this hilly area of the Langhe, the favorable exposure and microclimate ensure optimal and gradual ripening. The natural vocation of these soils allows Nebbiolo to express remarkable aromatic intensity and a well-defined tannic structure, capable of evolving while maintaining excellent balance over time.
How it is made
Production starts with the Nebbiolo harvest, which takes place between late September and early October. After picking, fermentation occurs under strict temperature control to preserve the purity of the aromas. Aging lasts twenty-four months in used barriques and large casks, continues for eight months in steel, and ends with a further eight months in bottle, enabling a perfect integration of all components.
Tasting notes
In the glass, the wine shows a typical dark garnet color. The bouquet is intense with notes of dark berries, harmoniously combined with spicy hints and clear touches of licorice, cocoa, and chocolate. On the palate, it is smooth and pleasantly balanced, with consistent development and excellent persistence that prolongs the spicy sensations through the finish.
Pairings
This Piedmontese red pairs well with flavorful first courses and red meat main dishes, as its sturdy structure complements robustly flavored dishes. It matches perfectly with game and aged cheeses, where its spicy and licorice nuances blend perfectly with the food’s savoriness. It is ideal for enhancing intense ingredients and creates a harmonious connection throughout a meal.
When to serve it
This Barolo is suitable for occasions when you want to offer a wine with structured character. Its well-integrated taste profile makes it excellent for important dinners focused on hearty dishes, and it can be cellared to develop further complexity. Serving it during a complete meal allows you to fully appreciate its aromatic definition and the way it evolves in the glass.
