Description
What kind of wine it is
Barolo Riserva Runcot by Elio Grasso is a red wine from the Langhe made from Nebbiolo grapes. Created in Monforte d’Alba, it expresses a style focused on finesse and balance. Fermentation in stainless steel precedes maturation in French oak barriques and bottle aging. It reveals a structured and intense profile, combining elegance with pure power.
Where it comes from
It originates in Monforte d’Alba, in the geographic heart of Barolo. The grapes come from vines over thirty years old at three hundred meters above sea level, facing south. The calcareous marl soils provide Nebbiolo with an elegant texture and great expressive precision, faithfully merging the region’s authentic identity with the classic interpretation of the Runcot cru.
How it is produced
Riserva Runcot is born from grapes harvested in mature vineyards on the Piedmont hills. This is followed by fermentation in stainless steel at controlled temperatures to carefully manage extraction. After this phase, the wine undergoes a long rest and matures in French oak barriques for several years. A period of bottle aging shapes its character before release.
Tasting notes
In the glass, it displays a garnet color, consistent with its classical character. The bouquet offers aromas of red fruit and spices, interwoven with hints of aromatic herbs and balsamic notes. On the palate it is intense, sustained by ripe, expressive fruit. The solid tannic structure is perfectly integrated, resulting in a lingering, enveloping, and harmonious taste.
Pairings
The pronounced intensity of this wine makes it perfect for braised and stewed meats, as it enhances slow-cooked, flavor-rich dishes. Its dense structure is an excellent match for succulent meats or dishes with concentrated sauces, where the spices find an effortless aromatic continuity. True to Piedmontese tradition, it pairs beautifully with game stews and jugged hare.
When to serve it
It is the ideal choice when presenting a robust red wine able to stand up to substantial meat courses. Its blend of elegance and vigor makes it suitable for festive lunches and formal dinners, particularly enhancing slow-cooked dishes. Thanks to prolonged maturation, it reveals an evolved and defined profile, perfect for those seeking high stylistic precision in the glass.
