Description
Fontanafredda's Barolo Serralunga d'Alba, which has just entered the Top 100 of Wine Spectator, was born in the Piedmontese municipality of the same name, in the province of Cuneo.
It is obtained from 100% Nebbiolo grapes, harvested and selected by hand during the first two decades of October. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 27-28 °C for 15 days and with frequent pumping over. Subsequently, the wine ages for 24 months in large Slavonian oak barrels and 12 months in concrete vats.
Fontanafredda's Barolo Serralunga d'Alba has an intense ruby red colour with garnet reflections. It opens to the nose with hints of dried flowers and berries, with notes of sweet spices. On the palate it is full, velvety and dry, with a harmonious and persistent finish.
Perfect in combination with red meat dishes and medium and long-aged cheeses, it is ideal as a meditation wine.
