Description

What kind of wine it is

Le Serre Nuove dell’Ornellaia is a red wine produced by Ornellaia and classified as Bolgheri, created from a balanced blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. Conceived as a complementary expression to the estate's flagship wine, it displays a structured and complex style with a very polished tannic texture. Its aromatic profile harmoniously balances ripe fruit and spices, ensuring great depth of flavor.

Where it comes from

It originates in Bolgheri, a renowned area of the Tuscan coast considered among the best suited for the cultivation of international grape varieties. The region boasts a microclimate tempered by the sea, with constant breezes favoring slow and steady phenolic ripening. The optimal position on the Tyrrhenian strip allows for excellent aromatic definition, imparting a precise, elegant, and solidly structured territorial character to the glass.

How it is produced

Harvesting is strictly done by hand in crates, separated by single variety, between late August and the first half of October. After a gentle pressing, the grapes undergo separate vinification in temperature-controlled steel vats. Maceration on the skins delicately extracts the structure and is followed by malolactic fermentation conducted in both steel and wood. This is followed by fifteen months of aging in barrique, completed by further bottle aging.

Tasting notes

In the glass, it shows a youthful and intense red color. The nose reveals clear scents of ripe red fruit, followed by elegant spices and delicate toasted notes from the time spent in wood. On the palate, it is round and velvety, showcasing great personality and a remarkable texture. Its flavor progression precisely leads to a rich and lingering finish, perfectly balanced and completed by light balsamic nuances.

Best pairings

At the table, it beautifully accompanies significant dishes based on red meat and enhances savory preparations and slow-cooked recipes. Its spicy notes make it a key ally for game dishes or well-aged cheeses. It finds a classic territorial pairing with the Florentine-style steak or a hearty braised wild boar, in which the wine's velvety softness perfectly balances the powerful flavors of the meat.

When to serve it

Ideal for occasions when you want to present a red wine of undeniable structure and finesse. Its impressive balance and notable persistence make it extremely versatile for substantial food pairings. The meticulous aging also ensures a promising aging potential, destined to reveal even more layered aromas. When savored patiently, it always offers a full, satisfying sip.
