Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Poggio Banale 2005 La Poderina
Description
Brunello di Montalcino Poggio Banale was born in the cellars of the La Poderina estate in Tenute del Cerro, in the area of Castelnuovo dell'Abate, within the renowned Sienese municipality of Montalcino.
The wine consists of only Sangiovese grapes, whose collection and selection is done exclusively by hand. The vinification involves a long maceration on the skins which loads it with extract. After a short passage in steel for 6 months, the wine ages for 24 months between French oak tonneaux and large Slavonian oak barrels, finally 18 months inside its own bottle.
It is characterized by a ruby red color of marked intensity, with garnet reflections. The scent is broad, reminiscent of ripe black cherries, vanilla and tobacco, balsamic and earthy notes. In the mouth it is warm and dry, with a vibrant tannin that accompanies its great fullness and elegance to the end.
A wine that does not fear long aging, it is perfect in the company of important red meats. Try it with delicious lamb chops or furred game such as deer and chamois.
