Description
What kind of wine it is
Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Gualto di Camigliano is a red wine made from Sangiovese Grosso grapes sourced from the estate's top vineyards. The style is full and structured, with a profile focused on complexity and a clear propensity to evolve. Vinification takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature, followed by ageing in French oak barrels and completed with a stay in the bottle, resulting in an expression consistent with the character of Brunello di Montalcino.
Where it comes from
It is born in Montalcino, Tuscany, within the Brunello di Montalcino denomination. The grapes are selected from the best vineyards of the Camigliano estate, aiming to obtain a Riserva of great solidity. Its origin, linked to a single production area, is reflected in a sober style and the ability to maintain definition over time.
How it is produced
The harvest is manual and takes place in October. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature between 28 and 30 °C, with skin maceration for 21–25 days, designed to extract colour, tannins, and aromatic components. This is followed by 36 months of maturation in French oak barrels and further refinement in the bottle, which helps to integrate structure and aromatic profile.
Tasting notes
In the glass it displays a brilliant ruby red colour. The bouquet is ample and varied, with notes of ripe fruit, hints of Mediterranean scrub and aromatic herbs, all set on a well-defined texture. On the palate it is balanced and full, with silky, integrated tannins; the progression is steady and the finish is long and harmonious, with a sensation of continuity of flavour.
Food pairings
It naturally pairs with red meats, game and aged cheeses, thanks to its structure and tannic texture. On the table, it suits important dinners where a red is needed to match intensity and succulence, while maintaining balance and persistence through to the finish.
When to serve it
It is recommended when a red wine of great structure is desired, suitable for special occasions or dedicated tasting moments. Its extended ageing and overall balance suggest a good capacity for evolution, with a gradual increase in complexity over time. It can be enjoyed now for its definition, or stored to follow its evolution in the bottle.
