Description
What kind of wine is it
Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Marrucheto Banfi is a red wine produced from Sangiovese grapes from the Marrucheto vineyard. It exhibits a full and structured style, with fine tannins and an orderly flavor progression. Fermentation in combined vats and subsequent aging in wood give a rich yet balanced profile, which reflects its origin, craftsmanship, and tasting experience.
Where does it come from
The grapes come from three plots of the Marrucheto vineyard, planted in 2009 in Montalcino, in Tuscany. The soils alternate marine deposits with well-rounded coarse pebbles in a yellowish sandy matrix and zones of clayey sand. This variability supports structure and aromatic definition without losing concentration.
How is it made
After selecting the Sangiovese grapes, fermentation takes place in combined steel and French oak vats at controlled temperatures to guide extraction and preserve clarity. This is followed by at least 30 months of aging in French oak casks, integrating the tannic structure and consolidating body, favoring complexity and continuity.
Tasting notes
In the glass, it is presented as an intense ruby red. On the nose, it is powerful and fresh, with red fruits such as blackberry and ripe cherry, Mediterranean hints of carob and figs, and clear spices like white pepper and bay leaf. The palate is full, with silky tannins; the finish remains harmonious and balanced, consistent between fruit, spice, and overall structure.
Pairings
It pairs with complex and structured dishes, where richness and silky tannins interact with substance and succulence. It goes well with important meat dishes and slow-cooked recipes, maintaining a balance between Mediterranean notes and spiciness. It is also recommended with braised wild boar and is suitable as a meditation wine for moments when you seek depth without excess.
When to serve it
This is a red to choose when you want a structured and complete sip, ideal for lunches and dinners where the dish requires continuity. The extended aging in French oak and the solid structure also make it suitable for aging, with a steady evolution of its profile. It is best enjoyed in dedicated tastings, where fruit, spice, and Mediterranean hints are clearly expressed.
