Description
What kind of wine is it
Guy Charlemagne's Les Coulmets Blanc de Blancs Brut Champagne is a Champagne made exclusively from Chardonnay sourced from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, in the Côte des Blancs. The style combines precision and freshness with a creamy texture, delivering continuity and clarity throughout the tasting experience.
Where does it come from
The grapes originate from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, in the heart of Champagne and the Côte des Blancs, an area deeply tied to Chardonnay. The wine is aged in the maison’s underground cellars, entirely built from chalk, where stable conditions allow for slow and steady maturation.
How is it produced
Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks, to preserve the fruit’s vibrancy and clarity. The secondary fermentation is carried out using the Traditional Method, with in-bottle fermentation. The wine then spends 8 years on the lees in the underground cellars, developing greater aromatic depth and a more enveloping texture on the palate.
Tasting notes
In the glass, it appears straw yellow with golden highlights. The nose reveals pineapple and both fresh and candied citrus, followed by sweet spices, tobacco, and raisins. On the palate it is creamy and fresh, with a long-lasting finish that echoes the fruity and spicy notes.
Pairing suggestions
At the table, it pairs well with gratinated oysters, fish carpaccio, and mussels in broth. The freshness complements the savoriness of seafood, while the creaminess matches the more delicate textures of fish, ensuring a precise and cohesive tasting experience.
When to serve it
Ideal when you want a glass that focuses on freshness and lees-aging complexity, effortlessly accompanying a seafood-based meal. Served well chilled, it enhances aromatic definition and its creamy texture; sipped slowly, it highlights its persistence.
